Meet Tereso Perfecto Contreras

Amalia Mondragón y Tereso Perfecto Contreras (She/He/They) is a queer two-spirit, Latin Grammy-nominated, vocalist/songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from the desert borderlands of El Paso-Texas, Ciudad Juárez-Chihuahua, and La Union-New Mexico.

The purpose of their TRANSFRONTERIZ art is to bring humanity and contribute dimensionality to border narratives by exploring gender fluidity, identity, xenophobia, migration, and life in the Chihuahuan Desert through the eyes and heart of the two-spirit artist.

Mondragón has collaborated with noteworthy artists such as Luis Humberto Navejas (Enjambre), Money Mark, Los Angeles Negros, Adrian Quesada, and Intocable. They have shared the stage with Beach House, Mexican Institute of Sound, La Santa Cecilia and El Gato Negro. She has also been part of the opening acts for Panteon Rococo, Fantastic Negrito, Calle 13, Supaman, George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, and Jarabe de Palo among many others.

Currently, Mondragón Contreras is in the final stages of completing an album funded by NALAC and The FORD FOUNDATION through the Border Narrative Change grant.

Amalia is open for bookings in June 2024.
